I like to have my canvasses sit around for a long while…adding layers of paint, paper, adhering objects, etc. to the surface. This one had been around for 10 years before I added the image of the “bird girl” last night…

I’m working on a skate deck for my friends at the Atomic Sketch Event, who are putting together a rad show in June. I started this sketch at one of the ASE monthly events, so it’s only appropriate that I bring it to life. More details coming soon…

Another of my inspirations is looking at decaying walls or surfaces, layered with paint, posters ,street art, rust, dirt, etc. Even if it’s just someone’s attempt to “cover up” gang tags or patch an old area, I find it beautiful… staring at the surface, leading me to daydream as if it were the sky.

I found this vintage box of Cray-pas today. I love the packaging and the Japanese/English text on the individual colors.
Window at Zhou B. Art Center
I went to an art show at the Zhou B. Art Center this past weekend and wandered through the nooks and crannies of this massive space. I found the architecture to be compelling….photographing the spaces I felt were not so ordinary.
The artwork isn’t always the piece with the tag under it…

"it's better not to know..." - part of the "Now..." Mural Show at the Flat Iron Arts Building
I’m participating in the,“Now You See it, Now You Don’t…” show!
Each artist or group painted a 4′ x 10′ wall with 2 “two handoff” areas that connect the murals together and create a “flow” throughout the building.
Besides the murals, artists will have individual pieces available for sale and resident artists will have their studios open.
Also participating are teen artists from my studio, Right-Brained Studio, so come on out and show your support.
The unveiling will take place on Friday 4/6 with an opening reception from 6-10pm and on Friday 5/4 with a closing reception from 6-10pm.
This event is FREE and open to the public.
